Ripped Jeans

Ripped Top Shop jeans

Ripped jeans are denim jeans with tear or rips, often on the knees but possibly in other locations on the pant as well. They were popular in the late 1980s during the hard rock/heavy metal era and in the 1990s and 2000s during the grunge era.

Be it skinny jeans, mom jeans, boyfriend jeans or cropped jeans, ripped jeans are the denim trend that is still going strong.  Ripped jeans can be paired with any type of shoe. I personally love paring my ripped jeans with high heels.

Ripped jeans are everywhere, and for some reason, not only are they acceptable LOL! they are also very popular.

Ripped jeans are meant to look effortless but in reality they’re so much more effort to put on *rolls eyes”. You have to gently pull them up your legs, praying your foot doesn’t go through the knee hole and rip all the way through LOL! The longer you wear ripped jeans, the bigger the hole. Whilst you’d normally throw your jeans away when they rip, with ripped jeans you’re always stuck in a dilemma of how ripped is too ripped.

The real joke is that ripped jeans generally cost more than ones in perfect condition. I personally love Top Shop ripped jeans, as they are ripped to perfection in all the right places, plus they use very soft denim material to make their jeans, which makes them lighter and more comfortable to wear than your ordinary jean.

Top Shop jeans are a little pricey. However, you can save money by going for the DIY (do it yourself) option. I once tried ripping my own jeans. I feel like I over ripped them, so I definitely do need a few more classes on “ripping my own jeans” LOL!

My DIY ripped jeans

My next post will give you a step by step process on how to rip your own jeans in the comfort of your own home.

Please feel free to comment on your own “ripped jeans experiences”. I would love to read about what some of you

use to rip your own jeans? or where you would recommend one to buy perfectly ripped jeans?
