I have always had a love for fashion, travel, event planning, food and photography. Although fashion is my first love :).

I decided to name this blog a lifestyle blog, as I will not only be blogging about fashion. However, I will also include travel, event planning and food reviews of places I have been to and places I will be traveling to in future.

My number one love “fashion” has appeared to me as a weapon of massive confidence since my early teenage years. Growing up my style was “tomboyish”, I loved wearing baggy jeans and crop tops, sneakers, hoodies and all the tomboyish trendy stuff at that time. Throughout the past few years and as I transitioned from a teenager to a woman, I got closer to my femininity.

I love fashion because it is like an extension of my personality and what kind of mood I’m in. It can tell people to back off and leave me the hell alone, or it can invite people in and show the softer side of me. Fashion gives a certain amount of freedom to people and allows them to be who they want to be.

The thing that I love most about fashion is what it ultimately seeks to do, make life more beautiful than it is by making people look and/or feel more beautiful than they otherwise might be. There’s something so idealistic about fashion in that it visualizes things in the best possible light. But there’s also that part of fashion that seeks to challenge beauty, to change the collective eye and propose new ideas of what beauty can be, and unlike any other art form, the beauty that is often created in fashion is completely fleeting, it’s a moment. At it’s best it burns brightly and quickly and can never be duplicated. That ability to change, to constantly renew itself is probably what makes fashion so intoxicating. I love that you can look at one designer’s work within a given period of time and see the change, whether it’s blatant and revolutionary or subtle and evolutionary. You can’t always appreciate that journey from one thing to the next in other art forms; it’s usually only in hindsight that you can see it.

As for what fashion is, besides being an extension of personality, or a mood, or a way of expressing inner creativity, it’s also a kind of mask. I love the transformative quality, the effect that an item of clothing can have on the way people see you and the way you might see yourself. There’s something about the right pair of pants or a fabulous pair of shoes that can bring out a confidence in you that you didn’t realize you had. Despite how much fashion deals with the surface, it’s the effect it has on the way you feel as opposed to the way you look that makes it so amazing…to me at least.

I hope you enjoy the the blog, please feel free to comment on any posts 🙂
